I did well on my second test- thank you thank you. Now I have a lab practical next Tuesday. Apparently this is the test that the high score on is typically an 80. NOT ACCEPTABLE. We shall hope to goodness that I can get an A on that or I will be one pissy girl for a while.
The class itself is still very interesting although we are studying muscles and muscles are not my favorite body system. More hard names. We get to start dissecting cats in our next actual lab. Don't worry- I won't post any pics!
I am going to ask my professor if she allows students to watch her surgeries. I think that would be very interesting. I doubt she does but doesn't hurt to ask!

Update #347
Once again, I have not blogged in forever. Here's what I've been doing with my non-Anna time.
1. Studying
2. Taking notes so I can study them
3. Sniffling
4. Studying
5. Being sick
6. Playing pathwords
7. Feeling sorry for myself
8. Studying and sniffling and blowing my poor raw nose
thats about it. My grandma Ginny's bday is coming up which means I have to get started on a blog about her. :) Stay tuned!

No title comes to mind
Ladies and Gentleman of the blog...
I was such a bum today. I spend the morning with mom and Anna just messing around and eating lunch with my grandma and grandpa. Then mom took Anna home and I laid on the couch for the next 5 hours with a book, blankets, pillows, and a tv remote. That's right - 5 HOURS! I got up twice. It was wonderful. I wish to do that again soon. The world of bumhood has no place in the world of a mom- there just isn't typically time! But wow was it nice while it lasted!
In other news.... ah who am I kidding. I have no other news. Well I guess I could tell you that I had another test and think I did pretty well. Of course I won't find out for probably a week cause my teacher is a practicing vet, and on a school board, and has horses and 15,000 various other things so she never gets anything done in a reasonable time. Very nice lady though. And she tells us stories about the animals that come into her clinic which is fun but usually sad too. Poor animals with their popped out eyeballs! That was the last case she told us about. I have another test - this one in lab in about a week and a half. So one more night of no studying then its back to the grind. I really am overstudying for these tests- they are pretty easy for the content involved. Its just that there is so much of it and you have no idea what to study! So grind away I will!

My head is swimming...
Anyone miss me while I was taking a blogging break? I didn't really intend to- I am just really boring these days. Ask Anna. :)
My head is swimming with all these details of the bones and joints of our bodies. Condyles all over the place, infraspinous fossa, intertubercular groove, trochlear notch, processes on every bone...ahhh! seriously- what is with these names? Here are the names of the bones in the wrist- Scaphoid, capitate, trapezoid, trapezium, lunate, hamate, triquetrum, and pisiform. Seriously. Who named these? Geez. I think if I was naming them I would have just gone with bone number 1 of 206, bone number 2 of 206. Just as easy. Just start at the top left- just like how we read. Or at least pick names that are a little easier to pronouce. Like Harry, the wrist bone.
So my head is swimming with all this information- trying to fit it all in. My sister is having fits laughing at how I pronouce everything. After I completely butchered my 15th word, I started calling her and just asking how to say it. Hematopoiesis. He-muh-toe-po-e-sis. I think I'm gonna have to take a medical terminology class so I'm not the only nurse at the hospital pronouncing everything completely wrong. No one will be able to understand me. Except the patients - because I can just say "your cheek is broken" instead of "the zygomatic process of your temporal bone has a oblique fracture ". Which is probably not even possible but heck- you're not doctors so you didn't understand a word of that either. :)
*edited to add* I do actually know where these words come from... JULIE V!... I was just being funny!

Reporting in as promised
Did well on test. I am very pleased with my score. Still nervous about the class as a whole though. I have another test next Thurs. No breaks here! Then a lab practical shortly after that. We are going over all the bones and muscles and joints in one test! :0
Not much else is going on worth reporting!

"Nursing school is like boot camp for your brain"
I find out how I did on my test tonight. Anyone else scared? I am. Not to brag but school the first time around wasn't that much of a challenge for me. I have a feeling the remaining classes and the actual program will be quite the challenge indeed! For one thing- I'm quite a bit OLDER! yuck to that. The ole' brain isn't quite as quick as it used to be. Or I suppose it could be that my classes I took last time just weren't difficult as the girl that sits next to me right now so kindly implied the other day. :) For the record, I took a lot of science courses, 2 accounting courses, 2 statistic courses, and a meterology course that was a bi...well you know what I mean. Plus all my other regular business, psych, and geography courses. I'll give you that the travel classes were less hard than the other ones but I still got A's in all the hard classes! Ok wow- sorry- didn't realize I was still a bit worked up about that comment. Anyway, I am taking notes right now for the next test in 9 days, but thought I'd take a break to blog a quick blog. I'll report my score tonight if I get it back. I'll even report it fairly although that might be a hit to the pride!

My friend Stacy
In keeping with my new idea about writing about each of my friends/family on their birthdays... here is another one! Her birthday was actually a few days ago but I was sick and stressed from my test so this is a little late.
I met my friend Stacy at a meet and greet for the new Christian school that mom and I had decided on for my junior high school. I have known Stacy a long time! We only went to 7th grade together, but were "best friends" for several years. Stacy was a wonderful friend. We went to church together for several years also. We had crushes on New Kids on the Block together. We both agreed that Jordan, Joey and Jonathan were the cutest, Danny was ugly, and Donny was just trouble. :) We did all the silly stuff that junior high girls did. Looking back on those times now, I realize what a wonderful gift Stacy was to my life. I left all my friends behind when I changed schools and Stacy and I just hit it off immediately. We liked the same books, she introduced me to music (that's right- I never listened to the radio or tapes or anything til Stacy), we fell in and out of love with lots of boys together, we got "drunk" off of Dr Pepper together (hey I never said we were cool), we went to camp, we wrote letters to NKOTB, we shopped and shopped, we spent countles nights at each other's houses, we swooned over The Man from Snowy River together. He was really cute in our defense. Esp in that scene in the second movie where he tips his hat at the girl he loves and then rides off by himself. Stacy and I made up pretend families together, complete with a book detailing all the information on our kids and husbands and what our kids rooms looked like, etc. I'd have to get the book back out to remember everything but I know I was married to Zach from Saved by the Bell and she was married to Kirk Cameron from Growing Pains. I am pretty sure we both had 4 kids and I know I had one named Emily. Fun times!
It is really my fault that Stacy and I grew apart. I cannot tell you what a huge regret that has always been to me. One of those "wish I could undo something I did as a dumb kid" things. We have stayed friends all the way through until now and in the last few years have been back in touch more and more which I am so thankful for. I value her friendship and the very limited time we get to spend together.

I have studied more for this test than any test ever before taken in my life. I am not kidding. These week has been incredibly stressful on various fronts and I need a very long nap. I'll let you know how I think the test goes tonight. I think I finally got most of the information crammed in.

Funny funny girl
Ok I have to tell a story on my daughter- its second hand cause of all the days to stay home and study!!! I missed church today and missed my daughter's apparently hysterical performance. That'll teach me right?
Anna is 2 and a half- and her little nursery class has been practicing a song with hand motions to do in front of the church. I didn't know it was supposed to be today and I am kicking myself!
Apparently, she got up on stage just fine, but then informed the nice lady leading the song that she was doing it wrong. And that they needed to get their instruments. In front of the entire church. Loudly enough for everyone to hear. And then, when she was denied the chance to go get an instrument, she spied the bongo drums on stage. She sidled over to them very quietly and just stood there a minute. Then she quietly tapped on one a little. Then when no one stopped her! She just climbed right up in the seat in front of the drums and played the bongos to the background of the whole church laughing hysterically at her. Just in case there is any confusion- that is not my blood people. That is straight Wallace blood right there! Ha! I am cracking up at her- I so wish I had been there with a video camera.
