Bored bored bored bored

I am so bored. So very bored. Not a good normal day bored either. Just bored waiting around kinda bored. Anyway, so, I thought I would talk a little on here. I am super excited about tomorrow. I get to go shopping all day long with one of my all time favorite people- Julie B! YEA! We are going to start off our wonderful day with a yummy-licious lunch at Carlos O' Kelley's where I plan to make myself quite uncomfortably full. Then we are heading out to hit some outlet stores and refill our children's closets for the spring and summer. Got coupons man! Gotta use those babies up! Then after shopping- there is just no telling what trouble we will find to get into. Coffee? Maybe! More food? Maybe! For sure- there will be much talking. Julie (poor thing) has been quite the sounding board for me lately. Actually, I am a little surprised she is willing to spend several hours stuck with me in a car. I have talked her ear off about all my frustrations and hopes and fears and so many other things lately. You would think we would be talked out but it hasn't happened yet! I already have a list of things waiting in my head to get her take on. Thank you, God for a friend like Julie!

Oh btw- my phone is working again. I think God took pity on me and turned it back on. Whew. That was close.

Some of my favorite scrapbook pages

Here are some of my favorite scrapbook pages. They are sometimes hard to get a good picture of so sorry if they are hard to read/see.
Title Page of a book I am working on of my sister's wedding

From my sister's wedding book

From my baby shower book

These next ones are pages of the same picture- just for two different books. The first three are from my Best Friends Throughout my Life book. The last three are from a book of all different moments in my life- weekend trips, baby showers, etc. Same theme with slight variations cause I loved the way it looked. (:

NOT acceptable

My brother and sister and I used to tease my dad about "honking his car horn out". He uses his car horn ... (clearing throat) ummm... let's just say, quite a bit. One day it quit working. Oh, the laughing. We, for years, told him that he honked the horn so much it got tired and couldn't honk anymore. He had "honked it out". Well today, dad got me back. In a big way. My phone quit. Now, I love and adore my iphone. It has all my numbers and calender and pictures on it. And luckily I guess, its just the phone section that has stopped responding. It shows me all the pretty numbers that I have recently called but will not let me click on any of them. And I can't switch to any other phone section either. Which leads me to believe that maybe I have "called it out". Used it too much! And now it is not working! AHHHH!!! This is not going to work for me. I HAVE to have my phone. Really. Right now its my link to sanity. So please, dad- whatever horrible curse you have put on my phone for all the car horn jokes- please lift it off and let me have my phone back!

My theme song right now

Another day has almost come and gone
Can’t imagine what else could wrong
Sometimes I’d like to hide away
somewhere and lock the door
A single battle lost but not the war (‘cause)
Tomorrow’s another day
And I’m thirsty anyway
So bring on the rain
It’s almost like the hard times circle ‘round
A couple drops and they all start coming down
Yeah, I might feel defeated,
And I might hang my head
I might be barely breathing - but I’m not dead
Tomorrow’s another day
And I’m thirsty anyway
So bring on the rain
I’m not gonna let it get me down
I’m not gonna cry
And I’m not gonna lose any sleep tonight
Cause tomorrow's another day
And I'm thirsty anyway
So bring on the rain!

Big Girl Panties

Apparently I have the gift of prophecy, because shortly after I wrote that last blog my husband told me he thought it would be best if we moved. Not the news I was hoping for I must admit. And I confess, my big girl panties were in the wash last night. I mostly bawled my eyes out. The truth is that I just don't ever want to move! I didn't want to move 2 years ago, and I don't want to move now! But big girl panties are now on. Time to be a grown-up. Sigh. I really need a good dose of that trust and courage I was talking about last time.

Normal Days

"Normal Day~ let me be aware of the treasure you are. " ~ Mary Jean Irion

Yesterday I had the wonderful privilege of having lunch with one of my closest friends and having one of those conversations that leaves you reflecting upon how blessed you are to have that person in your life. There have only been a handful of people in my life that I can have those kinds of "soul meetings" with and I am so thankful for each and every one of them. That, however, is not the point of this blog. (: Maybe the next one!

This conversation was centered on how sometimes you are put into a situation in your life where you just have to "put on your big girl panties" and get through it. We discussed how quickly things can crop up in your life- sometimes with no distant sounds of thunder to even give you a warning that the storm is coming. I am not a big lover of change- never have been, probably never will be. I pray everyday that God will "change my heart" and grow the small seedling of trust He has planted in me. Right now, while my husband might not agree with my assessment, I feel like possibly "big" changes are hovering over me at all times- just waiting for a reason to crash down on me. How I pray for the courage and trust to meet whatever my future holds with trust and happiness and acceptance! But for right now, I am glad for those "normal days". Even today, with my sweet baby girl running fevers off and on, running around the house one minute and cuddling up with me on the couch for some comfort the next, is a moment to be cherished. "Normal", even boring days are a treasure.

Sesame Street

I am giving Sesame Street another chance- due mostly to the fact that children do seem to learn their letters, etc by watching this. However.... I have to say again... this is one of the most annoying shows in the history of the earth. Probably the entire solar system. Big Bird? Annoying. Elmo? Aaaa-nnoying. Cookie Monster? Annoying. Oscar the Grouch? Well, ok you have to at least give him props for sticking with the grouchy thing all these years. I knowed I am going to get yelled at for this post by at least one person reading this but seriously? How do you even stand to hear the show in the background? Let's hope Anna at least learned the letter "w" from today's show. That MIGHT make it worth it. Oh my goodness.... Bert and Ernie just came on... all I can even say is.....WOW.

Boogers

That's right- you read that correctly. This is a post about boogers. My child's boogers to be exact. I just finished posting that last blog when I look over and see one waiting on me- holed way up in Anna's nose. So here is my question and also my gripe- what the "h-e-double hockey sticks" hold those nasty things in there so tightly? I don't understand it! I feel like I am trying to dig super sticky glue from an alien planet out of her nose! Such a simple thing and it takes me 10 mins and 50 tries to get it out. And you can't just leave them there because of all the other "judge-y" moms out there just waiting to see something like that and call you a bad mom who doesn't take care of her kid. Plus... come on- its gross. It has to go. So picture me holding Anna down on my lap- literally- begging her to hold still for one second instead of kicking me and the floor and twisting and screaming and crying and jerking her head away as fast as she can. And of course- you don't ever succeed in getting it out of her nose on the first try- nor the second or third. Hence the alien glue theory. And once it is out of her nose- it doesn't just come off- it smears all over her face. Nice. Poor baby. And poor mommy! You don't ever notice Daddy or Grandpa helping out in boogerville. Nope that job is all mine.

All you moms out there~ I did it~ I bought THE CHAIR

The potty chair that is. So far we are mostly just sitting on it, dressed or undressed. Just getting used to it being there before we start actually trying to use it. She LOVES to sit on it which is funny to me. I keep thinking maybe if I put it off a little longer maybe Grandma will just have her trained one day when she sends her home but so far that hasn't happened! So one of these days soon I will start filling the child full of water and sitting her on the potty every half hour or so. Anyone have any great hints for potty training? (:

Just give me my nachos.... please

We stopped off at qdoba tonight to grab a quick dinner before rushing Anna home to beddie-bye. I order Adam's steak quesadilla successfully and then ask the nice 10 year old behind the counter for nachos with the chips on the side. This is how I have ordered this meal more times than I care to count or share with you. He asked me what I said so I repeat myself. Apparently he still doesn't understand so I try to explain.
"I want the nachos made just like normal but without the chips underneath- I want those on the side."
Confusion is rolling off him in waves so I try to be helpful and give him a hint.
"Just put the chips in a bag." I say as friendly as possible.
So he nods as if he understands and puts some chips in a bag and sends them down the line. Then he looks at me and says "did you need anything else?"
I was thinking "!!??!!??" But I said "well, I need you to make my nachos...."
So he grabs the bowl and PUTS CHIPS IN THE BOTTOM OF IT! By this time it is apparent to his boss or whoever that we are having a misunderstanding. So he walks over and asks me what I need.
"Nachos with chips on the side".
He sputters a little bit so I add ...
"I just want normal nachos to go- I just want the chips in a bag instead of underneath everything...."
More confusion... so again I say....
"You guys make this for me all the time....Just put the chips in a bag and then make the nachos just like normal."
So then he says "Naked Nachos?"
So I say..... "ok...whatever you want to call them."
Then he starts LECTURING me on how this guy is new and I have to order things correctly otherwise no one will know what I am talking about and even he didn't understand what I meant...blah blah blah. I at this point am more than a tad bit aggravated but I keep my cool and smile pleasantly and tell him I will be very sure next time to order NAKED NACHOS. Although I don't really understand how they are naked since there was never anything surrounding them in the first place! And since I still got the chips! However... naked nachos it is from now on.
